also known as Sturgis

Frank Sturgis (1924–1993), soldier of fortune and anti-Castro operative, one of the five men arrested inside the Watergate on 17 June 1972. Across Mae's broadcasts he is the thread that runs from Watergate back to Dallas, a link she says she was first to put in print, in August 1972. No. 288 is the week a witness puts him on the road to Dallas.

Enters as one name on the arrest list, a burglar with an alias, before Mae ties him to Dallas

July 1, 1972

Mae lists him among the five with his other name and no more; the Dallas history she will print the next month is not in this broadcast.

"Mr. Sturgis, Frank Sturgis. He's known as Frank Fiorini"

Mae stakes her priority: five years before Lorenz, she had tied a Watergate burglar to Dallas in print.

"And, of course, it makes Mae Brussell happy because in August 1972, I wrote the first published account in the world saying that Frank Sturgis, of Watergate fame, who was arrested at the Watergate Hotel, had a history that went all the way back to the John Kennedy assassination and that the FBI was busy interviewing him the day after the assassination back in Miami."

Mae sets Lorenz beside A.J. Weberman's tramp identification, two separate lines converging on Sturgis in Dealey Plaza.

"Weberman is the gentleman who wrote the book Coup d'etat in America, and he claims that Frank Sturgis is photographed at Dealey Plaza, and he's one of the tramps."

Mae notes that Sturgis's own earlier statements already put him on an assassination team; Lorenz adds a place and a week.

"He said earlier that he was part of an assassination team and that he worked for the 40 Committee."
